Built on the science of reading
A New Page is Structured Literacy: the explicit, systematic approach the International Dyslexia Association recommends, in the Orton-Gillingham tradition, for struggling and dyslexic readers.
Our scope and sequence follows the order of skills in UFLI Foundations, the University of Florida Literacy Institute’s reading curriculum used in thousands of classrooms, with a few vowel sounds introduced early.

Does A New Page work in my country?
Yes. A New Page serves English-speaking families worldwide, with local spelling on the parent pages, a fixed price in your own currency, and a free week to start.
What ages is it for?
Children roughly 3 to 18, placed by a free reading check of about 5 to 10 minutes at the safest place to start, not by their grade.
Is it based on real reading science?
Yes. It is explicit, systematic phonics (structured literacy), with mastery checks, spaced review and a weekly progress report, reviewed by a reading specialist with 41 years of experience teaching children to read.
How much does it cost?

Why now, in Canada?
In February 2022 the Ontario Human Rights Commission's Right to Read inquiry said plainly what the research had said for decades: children need explicit, systematic instruction in the sounds and the letters, taught in order, with practice until it sticks. Ontario rewrote its Language curriculum around that in 2023 and now screens every young reader early. That is the science A New Page is built on, and it is what your child gets at the kitchen table, whichever province you are in. What the province has not yet fixed is what happens after a child is flagged. The question families still carry home is the one we built this to answer: what do we do at home tonight?
Home-educating in Alberta?
Alberta reimburses home-educating families for learning resources: $928.03 per student in Grades 1 to 12 for 2026/27 ($464.02 for kindergarten), paid through your associate school board once your family is accepted, which has to happen before September 30. Submit receipts for at least three quarters of your eligible spending and you receive the full amount, and you have two years to claim it. A structured-literacy reading program fits the “instructional materials and resources” the program is meant for, but each associate authority makes its own call, so ask yours whether A New Page qualifies for your family. Keep your receipt and your child's weekly progress reports as your documentation. Outside Alberta there is no province wide reimbursement for a home reading program, but if your child has an IEP it is worth asking your school board whether a reading resource can be covered.

Can a teacher or therapist see what we do at home?
Yes. In the app, open your child's reader and choose Share a reader. It gives you a code for that one child. The other grown-up opens anewpagereading.com/r, types the code and signs in with their own email. From then on you both see the same step, the same story and the same report, and either of you can stop sharing at any time.
