A New Page is an at-home structured-literacy reading program for struggling and dyslexic readers, ages 3 to 18. A free five-minute check places your child at their real reading level, and then they read their way through an adventure story that only moves forward when they actually read the words. About fifteen minutes a night, you in the chair beside them.
Reviewed by a reading specialist with 41 years of experience teaching children to read. Every lesson is explicit structured literacy a child can do nightly, with placement and a weekly progress report you can share with your child's teacher.
In February 2022 the Ontario Human Rights Commission's Right to Read inquiry said plainly what the research had said for decades: children need explicit, systematic instruction in the sounds and the letters, taught in order, with practice until it sticks. Ontario rewrote its Language curriculum around that in 2023 and now screens every young reader early. That is the science A New Page is built on, and it is what your child gets at the kitchen table, whichever province you are in.
What the province has not yet fixed is what happens after a child is flagged. The question families still carry home is the one we built this to answer: what do we do at home tonight?

Alberta reimburses home-educating families for learning resources: $928.03 per student in Grades 1 to 12 for 2026/27 ($464.02 for kindergarten), paid through your associate school board once your family is accepted, which has to happen before September 30. Submit receipts for at least three quarters of your eligible spending and you receive the full amount, and you have two years to claim it.
A structured-literacy reading program fits the "instructional materials and resources" the program is meant for, but each associate authority makes its own call, so ask yours whether A New Page qualifies for your family. Keep your receipt and your child's weekly progress reports as your documentation.
