A New Page is Structured Literacy: the explicit, systematic approach the International Dyslexia Association recommends, in the Orton-Gillingham tradition, for struggling and dyslexic readers.
Our scope and sequence follows the order of skills in UFLI Foundations, the University of Florida Literacy Institute’s reading curriculum used in thousands of classrooms, with a few vowel sounds introduced early.

What ages is it for?
Children roughly 3 to 18, placed by a free reading check of about 5 to 10 minutes at the safest place to start, not by their grade.

Why now, in New Zealand?
Structured literacy has been required in every New Zealand state school since Term 1 2025, with phonics checks at 20 and 40 weeks from 2026. Is there funding in New Zealand?
If you home-educate, New Zealand's Home Education Supervision Allowance (NZ$796 a year for your first child, paid in two instalments, and unrestricted in how you spend it) more than covers a year of A New Page. For everyone else we keep it simple: a free week first, NZ$44 a month for the whole family, and free access for any family where cost is the wall. Just ask. The check runs on your device. We ask for your email at the end to show you the result and send it, and we keep that email with the reading level it found. Never your child's name or age.
Is it made for families in New Zealand?
Made for New Zealand families: New Zealand spelling on the parent pages, and the words are read in a British-English voice. The pure letter sounds are the same recordings everywhere, because a phoneme is a phoneme. Built in the US, available in eight countries; the stories and the method are the same everywhere.
Can a teacher or therapist see what we do at home?
Yes. In the app, open your child's reader and choose Share a reader. It gives you a code for that one child. The other grown-up opens anewpagereading.com/r, types the code and signs in with their own email. From then on you both see the same step, the same story and the same report, and either of you can stop sharing at any time.
