Using A New Page with your students

What A New Page is today
A New Page is a structured-literacy reading program a parent and child do at home, about 15 minutes a night. It is supplemental practice, not a core curriculum, and it is not a diagnosis or therapy. A school pilot for small groups is by invitation. Families, ESA and scholarship programs, therapists and tutors use it today. For educators and therapists · Paying with education funds
Student privacy and FERPA
What student data we hold. For each reader, filed under a private random code and never with the child’s name: birth year, reading progress (the step and level, nights read, minutes, words read and spelled right, the words missed, the reading check level, and one-minute read scores) and the story world. The child’s first name stays on the family’s device unless the family shares a reader with another grown-up. We hold the parent’s email to sign them in and send the notes they asked for. We do not collect a last name, home address, photos, school records or any recording of a child’s voice.
Families control it. The parent owns the account. The parent decides who else can see a reader (Share a reader, with a role), can remove anyone at any time, and can delete everything.
Used only to provide the program. Student data is used to teach the child and to show progress to the grown-ups the family chose. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and deleted on request.
We do not receive education records from schools unless a school sends them. If a school wants to send us student information, we will first agree in writing how it is used, only for that school’s purposes and under its direction, as FERPA expects of a school official, and we delete it when the school asks. We will review your district’s data privacy agreement on request.
The full details are in our Privacy Policy, including what can reach us before a parent’s consent and how long we keep anything.
School and program terms
- Our Terms of Service apply to every account.
- A teacher, tutor or therapist may use a reader a family has shared with them, to work with that child. The family’s access covers it, for as long as the family has access, at no cost to the professional.
- Using A New Page with students who are not in a family with their own access (a class, a caseload or a program) needs a short written agreement with us first: how many students, which adults use it, and for how long.
- A New Page is supplemental reading practice. It is not a core curriculum, a diagnosis or therapy, and we cannot promise a specific result.
- Either side may end school or program use at any time. When it ends, we delete the student data on request.
Licenses
- One-student license (for ESA, scholarship and allotment funds): $299 for one year, a single payment that does not renew. One license covers one reader on the account; a second license adds a second child.
- Family plan: one price covers every child in the household. See pricing.
- Schools, clinics and programs: write to us for a quote.
