A New Page

Ages 11 to 18 · For older struggling readers

A teen who still struggles to read should never be handed baby content.

Placed by skill, never by grade, with stories written for his or her age. Nothing on screen looks remedial.

11 story worlds

Pick a world. Your teen is the hero.

Eleven worlds with grown-up stories, from deep space to real history. The story fits his or her age; the words fit his or her level. Tap a world to see it.

Readers of different ages? One family plan covers all of them. Each reader gets his or her own world, level and look.

PARENT READS

Grandma heaved open the brass-cornered ledger. Every detective in the family is in there, the oldest ink faded to weak tea. She smoothed a blank page and tapped it. “Rule one. An agency knows its own.”

TEEN READS

Your teen reads the line. Tap any word to practice again.

Fixed it on his or her own? That counts as correct. Don’t tap it.

Built for dignity

A reading app that makes struggling readers want to read.

If your older child or teenager reads below where he or she should, you have probably found that most reading apps feel humiliating, cartoon characters and picture-book words. A New Page is different. It places by skill, never by grade, and the stories are written for his or her age, so nothing on screen looks remedial.

Older struggling readers do not need to be talked down to. They need text they can actually decode, wrapped in a story worth their time, with their progress kept private. That is what A New Page is built to do.

  • Placed by skill, never by grade. The starting point is honest and private.
  • Story worlds written for older readers: mystery, sport, survival, not baby animals.
  • A self-directed mode lets an older reader work without a parent hovering.
  • The text is built from what he or she has already learned, so he or she wins often enough to keep going.
  • Step-by-step reading lessons, the way reading specialists teach, reviewed by a reading specialist with 41 years of teaching.

Reading is not the thing he or she does before the story. Reading is how the story moves.

Questions parents of teens ask

My teen refuses anything that looks babyish. Is this different?

Yes. Stories are written for older readers and placement is by skill, never grade, so nothing looks remedial and progress stays private.

Can an older kid use it on his or her own?

Yes. There is a self-directed mode for older readers so they can work without a parent sitting beside them.

Is it too late for my teenager?

No. Reading is learnable at any age with explicit, structured instruction. The program starts at the safest place and builds.

Can a teacher or therapist see what we do at home?

Yes, and it works both ways. Open your child’syour teen’s reader, tap Share a reader, and send the one code to your child’s teacher or therapist. They sign in with their own email, and from then on you share that one reader back and forth: you read at home during the week, and when your childyour teen arrives for a session the therapist opens the app and picks up exactly where you left off, same step, same story, same report. Either of you can stop sharing at any time, and nothing else in your account is ever shared.

What does it cost?

The reading check is free for everyone. The program is a free week with no card, then $29 a month, the founding family price, and it is eligible for many state ESA and school-choice funds.

Will my price go up?

No. If you join now, you pay the founding family price, $29 a month or $299 a year, for as long as you’re with us. Pausing doesn’t change it. If our prices change later, that’s only for families who join after. On the year plan, your next year is $299 too.
